LIVING ZONE

CONTINOUS SPACE : over the ceiling since there is continuity in day zone in the apartment, the concept was to enhance a long line of activities and unify them through the structure in space, with the same motiv. these elements are lines in the ceiling which are cut in the gypsum board, subtle, expressing itself as shadow. lines follow openings in the walls, move around them in order to pass through. finaly when they reach the end of the kitchen, they interflow down over the front of the kitchen cabinet.

RESPECT FOR TRADITIONAL : digging for the old : continued search for brick walls, painted in white, conservation of the existing, original floor is kept, desaturated, matte

INTEGRATING THE NEW AGE : highlighting the old with modern tools we are using the same treatment for the brick wall by illuminating it with same LED linear light hidden in the suspended ceiling framing the nonexisting doors : all the doorways in the apartment are kept along with their original looks. openings without doors are treated as a new item in order to create a contrast between the past and the present. not to adapt to the old style, but to add small but agressive modern moves

COMUNICATION BETWEEN SPACES : connections : the connecting lines move over the ceiling, all the way through the three day zone areas / here is visible how lines over the ceiling move in the space, integrating into wall and passing through into next room

ACCENTUATION : gallery effect : There are just two paintings on the blank white wall, accented with two linear lights in width of a painting

INTERGRATING THE NEW AGE : framing the nonexisting doors. On the entrance to the kitchen and dining area, where the doors are removed, a strong architecural element in form of a black metal frame, made the impression of erasing the wall above the passage.

STUDY ROOM

ACCENTUATION : gallery effect

previous steps in the formation of the interior is repeated in the study. treatment of the brick wall in the living room was transferred here in order to obtain the e_ect of the gallery. paintings were casually leaning against the wall and is accentuated by continuous light.

RESPECT FOR TRADITIONAL : digging for the old : the brick wall appears on the front wall and frames the window, emphasizing the verticality and the dominant height of the room

CONTRAST : light Vs heavy : as there is no door by which to emphasize contrast, the effect is achieved by contrast between light shelves for books and a massive wooden table, which is the focal motive in the room

COMUNICATION BETWEEN SPACES : connections : Here is the starting point of the lines in the ceiling, which runs through all of day zone areas. furniture also reflects the lines of the bedroom.

KITCHEN

CONTRAST : light Vs heavy : in the kitchen, suspended over the dining table is a massive pendant. its overemphasized size appears as if it came from another dimension in the material it was treated as the surrounding

RESPECT FOR TRADITIONAL : digging for the old : continued brick wall from the living room. this motive connects all the day areas framing the nonexisting doors and the existing windows with the touch of modern

COMUNICATION BETWEEN SPACES : connections : here is the end point of the lines in the ceiling, and they are coming down over the kitchen cabinets

CONTRAST : light Vs heavy : in the kitchen, suspended over the dining table is a massive pendant. its overemphasized size appears as if it came for another dimension in the material it was treated as the surrounding.

THE GUEST ROOM

room of minimal design. simplicity, without color and specific character. all design elements used in the rest of the apartment are present in the guest room in a more reduced, minimal form.

Concrete wall framed by a black metal batten at the bottom and a beam of light pouring from the ceiling at the top

RESPECT FOR TRADITIONAL : digging for the old : this room retains the natural structure of the wall. brick wall colored in white. conservation of the existent original floor is kept. treated in a modern tehnique. the old tiled stove is preserved.

THE ENTRANCE HALL

designed using simple colours and materials, the anteroom represents a starting area of the apartment, both in a physical and conceptual sence, unfolding the space and design elements toward the rest of the interior.

mirror effect : large wardrobe glazed with mirrors gives a feeling of increased space provides a view to the rest of apartment

RESPECT FOR TRADITIONAL : conservation of the existent. original floor is kept. treated in a modern tehnique. the old tiled stove is preserved.

KIDS ROOM

PLAYGROUND BED : since the room is more spacious in height than in width we made two level bed for kids to play. on top floor there is additional guest bed and net for playing and resting.

room in the room : The bed is formed as a separate structure in the room.  it is meant for play, sleep, and it has integrated wardrobe inside. beneath the lower bed are drawers for toys storing.

THINKING BENCH: Under the window we put a bench for reading and resting. It is low enough so that kids cannot reach the window and yet can create relaxed atmosphere for mind work.

EDUCATIONAL WALL:confronting wall is planned for education through play.  it is covered with chalk board paint so that kids can draw on it. it has hanging desk on it and small removable shelves.

TRANSFORMATION: since there is one big fixed element in space (the bed) all other the furniture is movable in order to make as much space for playing
